Playing some shows: The first gig they played together was on August 28 at Wunder Bar on Whyte Avenue in Edmonton Alberta Canada. They played for SPCA and Cancer research. Other bands that attended were Dog's Mercury, Beyond Addiction, Jed, and Victoria.
Keith recorded a few songs from everybody for future promotion. Everybody appreciated that a lot but Jen from Dog's Mercury was the first to realize it was happening, "I see you're recording some creepy video!" =P It's a great thing though, because every band will be promoted for a year on Facebook.
"At first I had all these ideas of what I wanted to do together with Jamie's work... Getting a drummer involved or a guy to fill in on a banjo. Maybe those ideas are possible in the future but whatever; I'm thinking too hard. It is what it is. Now the whole idea is to keep it simple and have it sound as good as it can."
"One thing I'm really happy about with the contemporary music scene we're in is that music is going back to the roots. Jamie has been showing me some new bands like Black Sheep; it's just straight-forward rock. No digital distortion or drum loops or anything like that. I love how bands are going right back to square one. Black Keys do the same thing. Some of their recordings were done in a basement and they can get away with it. Dallas Green does the same thing! Who needs drums?"
After a year Keith and Jamie are beginning to incorporate two totally different worlds of music. Keith has the quirkiest way of working with other musicians since he's only used to accompanying. He's got a near perfect ear and can harmonize musically but on his own he has a sense of rhythm that's too difficult to follow. Somehow they get along musically because Jamie provides the foundation and structure and the emotion comes through but Keith brings the emotion through from a near-opposite concept. Together (God knows how,) it works!
It's been well over a year since Jamie played a gig before the Wunder Bar. There's not much time to get involved in the music scene but there are other ways to get involved. At the moment, Keith is promoting the videos recorded from the fundraiser and going back to the studio to work away on the recordings from the past year.
Jamie will be working on new material in his free time but also learning some new cover songs to play at gigs here and there. "This September I can see how our plans will be changing. I used to push for new originals to record but any recordings we did were too old - it's time for new material but it doesn't fly out of one's ass. So I think we're both doing what we're interested in. I'm more interested in promoting and networking, even if it's not my own band. Four videos in less than a week got over 120 views in total. It's working a little. Not too bad.
A brief overview of who we are and what we're doing and what we wanna do.
